Mastering Indian History for SSC GD 2026
History is a vast subject, but for the SSC GD Constable exam, you don’t need to be a historian. You just need to remember key events, dates, and personalities. This Set-02 Mock Test was designed to check your memory of these key facts.
To score full marks in the History section, you must divide your preparation into three parts:
1. Ancient & Medieval India (Quick Facts)
Questions from this section are usually direct. For example, capitals of kingdoms or founders of dynasties.
- Indus Valley: Harappa (1921) and Mohenjo-daro (1922) are the most asked sites.
- Mughal Empire: Remember the sequence: Babur -> Humayun -> Akbar -> Jahangir -> Shah Jahan -> Aurangzeb.
- Delhi Sultanate: Five dynasties ruled Delhi (Slave, Khilji, Tughlaq, Sayyid, Lodi).
2. Important Battles that Changed History
One question often comes from famous battles. Memorize this table for the 2026 exam:
| Year | Battle Name | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1526 | 1st Battle of Panipat | Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodi (Mughal Rule started) |
| 1556 | 2nd Battle of Panipat | Akbar defeated Hemu |
| 1757 | Battle of Plassey | British defeated Siraj-ud-Daulah |
| 1761 | 3rd Battle of Panipat | Ahmad Shah Abdali defeated Marathas |
3. The Freedom Struggle (Most Important)
If you have less time, focus only on Modern History (1885-1947). Major events include:
- 1885: Formation of Indian National Congress (INC).
- 1905: Partition of Bengal by Lord Curzon.
- 1919: Jallianwala Bagh Massacre & Rowlatt Act.
- 1930: Dandi March (Civil Disobedience Movement).
- 1942: Quit India Movement (“Do or Die”).
