Have you already submitted your application? You don’t need to visit the BDO or SDO office to know the result. Follow this simple guide to track your application online:

• Step 1: Visit the official portal castcertificatewb.gov.in.
• Step 2: Click on the “Application Status” button on the homepage.
• Step 3: Enter your Application Number (e.g., SC/…. or OBC/….).
• Step 4: Click on “Search”. Your current status (Approved / Pending / Rejected) will be displayed.

Documents Required for Caste Certificate 📑

90% of applications get rejected because of missing documents. Before you open the online portal, make sure you have scanned copies of these papers. The requirements differ slightly for SC/ST and OBC.

A. Common Documents (For All)

• Proof of Identity: Aadhaar Card / Voter ID / PAN Card.
• Proof of Residence: Ration Card / Electricity Bill / Land Deed.
• Passport Size Photo: Recent color photograph.
• Birth Proof: Birth Certificate or Madhyamik Admit Card.

B. The “Blood Relation” Factor (Crucial) 🩸

This is the most important part. You need to prove your caste.

• Case 1 (Relative has Certificate): If your father, brother, or paternal uncle has a caste certificate, upload its copy. (Status: Fast Approval).
• Case 2 (No Certificate in Family): You need a “Genealogy Chart” (Vanshavali) signed by the Pradhan/Councillor and 2-3 local witnesses stating your caste.

C. For OBC Applicants Only (Income Proof) 💰

OBC candidates must prove they do not belong to the “Creamy Layer”.

• Income Certificate: Issued by the appropriate authority (Pradhan/Municipality).
• ITR / Pay Slip: If parents are employed.

1. Portal Visit: Go to the official website and click on “Apply for SC/ST/OBC”.
2. Fill Basic Details: Enter Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, and Address.
3. Caste Details: Select your Sub-Caste (e.g., Rajbanshi, Namasudra) carefully.
4. Referees: Enter names of 2 local witnesses who know you.
5. Upload & Submit: Upload scanned photos and documents. Click “Submit”.

⚠️ Vital Step: Don’t Forget This!

Just applying online is NOT enough. You must print the Application Acknowledgement Slip and submit it along with xerox copies of all documents to your BDO Office (Rural) or SDO Office (Urban) within 15 days. Without this, your application will remain pending forever.
