- For Proforma A2 / B:
- District Magistrate (DM) / ADM
- Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO)
- Block Development Officer (BDO)
- Superintendent of Police (SP)
- Commissioner (Municipality Corp)
❌ NOT Accepted (Don’t Go Here)
For WBJEE/Medical Domicile, signatures from these officials are INVALID:
- ❌ MLA / MP
- ❌ Gram Pradhan
- ❌ Municipality Councillor
- ❌ Sabhapati of Panchayat Samity
- ❌ Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Members
💻 How to Apply for Domicile Certificate Online (e-District)
⚠️ STOP! Are you a Student (WBJEE/NEET)?
If you are applying for Entrance Exams, DO NOT apply online on e-District. Most counseling boards require the Physical Proforma A1 or A2 (signed by hand). The online e-District certificate is mainly for general purposes (Jobs, Ration Card, etc.).
For General Citizens who need a Residential Certificate for non-educational purposes, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Log in to edistrict.wb.gov.in.
- Step 2: Select “Local Residence (Domicile) Certificate” from the services list.
- Step 3: Upload Identity Proof (Aadhaar), Residential Proof (Voter Card/Land Deed), and Birth Proof.
- Step 4: Submit. Once approved by BDO/SDO, you can download the digitally signed PDF.
Note for Women: If you need this for schemes like Lakshmir Bhandar, the online e-District certificate is perfectly valid.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) ❓
Is Aadhaar Card valid as Domicile Proof in WB?
No. The Aadhaar Card is an Identity Proof, not a conclusive proof of Domicile/Residence. For WBJEE/NEET counselling, you strictly need the signed Proforma A1, A2, or B issued by a competent authority (BDO/SDO/Principal).
Can a Gram Pradhan sign my Domicile Certificate?
Strictly NO. Certificates signed by Gram Pradhan, Municipality Councillor, or MLA are invalid for Domicile purposes in West Bengal. You must get it signed by a BDO, SDO, DM, or School Principal (for A1).
Which Proforma for Married Women?
Married women should generally use Proforma B or apply via e-District using their husband’s address proof, provided they have resided in West Bengal for the required number of years.
